We took advantage of the lovely weather for some outdoor learning on the beach today. First the children had their daily running practice on the dunes, had a picnic for lunch on the beach and finished with a visual arts lesson on observational drawing.
As part of assembly, the children have been coming together to discuss what wellbeing means to them
1st-3rd class are exploring social skills and well-being through the game of chess. As the children are learning about the different pieces they are also developing key social and cognitive skills such as respect, accepting defeat, forward planning, teamwork, decision making and more.
Every Friday the school community comes together for assembly. The children participate in different activities such as prayer services, singing, sharing their learning, weekly raffle and shout outs from the ‘yay’ box. Here the children are listening to a Bilingual story read by Ms.Costello.
Genius hour has commenced! As part of Wellbeing Wednesday children from 1st-6th class are participating in ‘genius hour’ for the last hour of the day. From the children’s suggestions last week, 4 activities have been chosen for this half term – knitting, coding, sports skills and art.
Our very talented students created a silhouette portrait illustrating their favourite things. Can you tell who is who?
As part of play the junior room are exploring and developing their STEM skills. Some fabulous creations from earlier this week!
The children enjoyed picking blackberries yesterday and today our 6th class boys treated us to very tasty blackberry and apple crumble using apples from our school tree.
Welcome back to school to all our pupils and a special welcome to our junior infants! Each child designed a shoe with illustrating some of their talents and interests to kick off the new school year in style!
We would like to wish all our pupils and their families a very safe and happy summer!
Enjoy the holidays and the sunshine!!
