As part of Engineers week, we had an amazing morning with Laura from Tech Steps learning all about Lego robotics and coding. The children firstly worked together to build their own Lego robots. They then learnt how to write code which would allow their robots to change colour, make sounds, move at different speeds and much more.
The children in the senior room also enjoyed a zoom session called Sports: Engineering the game of the future, which looked at how engineering is being used to develop materials, products and systems that support athletes to compete at top level and to help sport become more accessible to all.
After a break of two years, thanks to Covid 19, we have been able to re-start our Reading Partners this morning. Each child in the junior room (learner) has paired with a child in the senior room (helper) who will listen to them read and also read to them. This will be happening each Monday and Wednesday morning for 20 minutes.
Participation in a Reading Partners Scheme has a number of benefits:
.
Today was World Book Day and to celebrate, the teachers and children came to school dressed as their favourite literary characters and authors. Plenty of fun was had this morning trying to figure out who everyone was! The children did lots of reading activities all day including writing their own stories using some of their characters and a book scavenger hunt.
It was impossible to choose a best costume from among the excellent attempts so instead the prizes were raffled. Well done to (Matilda), (Rowley), (Roald Dahl), (Wonderwoman) and (The Gruffalo)
