Some taste testing in the junior room this week. The children explored salty, sweet, bitter and sour tastes, discussed and recorded their findings
As part of Irish Sign Langauge (ISL) awareness week, the children in the senior room have been learning some sign language words and phrases all week and put them into practice with some conversations through sign language today

The 13th of September is the birthday of Roald Dahl and celebrates all that is wonderful about this much loved author and his timeless stories. We had lots of activities to mark the day today including a book reading session with the senior room reading to the juniors
As part of the seniors room history topic ‘Schools in the Past’ the children got the chance to carry out some research using the old school roll books. They were very excited to find the names of their parents, aunts and uncles and neighbours among the students of years gone by
The children have also completed projects based on school life in the past, from carrying out research into hedge schools to interviewing parents and neighbours about their school days. The resulting presentations were both informative and engaging, well done 3rd, 4th and 5th class!
The senior room children have been working on self portraits this week. One side of the picture represents their face as seen by us and the other is made up by the talents, hobbies and characteristics that make them who they are
Children took part in Well-being workshops this week: Feeling Good in Body and Mind
The children in the senior room have begun learning chess with Miss Howley this term. Chess is proven to improve concentration and memory, enhance maths and reading skills and foster logic, critical thinking and creativity.
