The children in the senior room have been getting mathematical this week to celebrate Maths week 2024. They took part in an interactive mathe”magical” webinar where they learned some magic tricks to astonish and astound!
They have been competing with other schools daily in target board maths activities. They must work together to come up with different ways of reaching a specific answer using a set amount of numbers
The children have also been working with the junior room on puzzles which give them the opportunity to combine maths with chess.
The Junior room have played maths games, created a number hunt outside, conducted surveys on the school community on a wide variety of topics and created graphs of their results!
Very well done to our senior boys team, Fanore/Ballyvaughan/New Quay, who after a sterling effort in Mullagh which saw them win 3 out of their 4 matches, have now advanced to the semifinals of the Cumann na mBunscol boys competition. Onwards and upwards lads!
The junior room are enjoying their online drama workshops with other classrooms around the country.
Each week as part of assembly and in keeping with our focus on well-being, the children are invited to write a little note celebrating their or another child’s achievement that week. Here is a sample of some of our recent “yays”.
Very well done to our children who took part in the North Clare Cross Country trials last week in Lees Road. They all ran their hearts out. A special well done to Freddie and Pia who qualified for the County finals at the end of the month.

As part of assembly, the children have been coming together to discuss what wellbeing means to them
They are finally up! Children in the senior room finished their unit of learning on hot air balloons by designing papier-mâché hot air balloons which now take pride of place in our classroom. The children also looked at the physics of hot air balloons in SESE, studied poetry on the topic and even wrote their own acrostic poems.
