A very warm welcome to our new pupils!
Wishing all our children a very happy and safe summer!
The children in both rooms got their creative juices flowing one more time with our tie-dye activity today. There was lots of colour, mess and fun and some beautiful creations as you can see below
The school held a competition this term to design a new school crest. After much deliberation among the very high standard of entries, Nate and Emily were chosen as the winners and the new crest will be a combination of their two designs. Well done!!
The children in the senior room read Under the Hawthorn Tree as their class novel this year. The children, in studying the novel, worked on comprehension strategies including making predictions, making connections, visualizing and creating character profiles. We finished the block of work by watching the film version of the book this week
To welcome our new students from Ukraine we all did our own take on Van Goghs famous Sunflowers painting in honour of the national flower of the country, the sunflower
Big congratulations to Burren Gaels on their recent victory in the Under 16 B cup Final against Doonbeg. We welcomed some of the team into school today with the cup, including past pupil Emily Howard.
We were delighted to take part in a wonderful project this term, “Life in 50 Years”. Each of the children wrote and illustrated their ideas about how life might have changed in 50 years time which have been published and given to each family. The future is looking very exciting if our book is anything to go by!!
The 6th Class recently took part in “Moving on Up” workshop in preparation for secondary school. The workshop gave the children lots of information and useful tips for making the transition to secondary school as easy as possible.
We celebrated the end of our involvement in the Creative Schools programme on Thursday with our creative/sports day. We had drumming, hip hop, crazy golf and sports day games with a BBQ to finish. Thank you to our parents for coming and being a part of our day
