Today we were fortunate to have Eddie Lenihan return to us here in Fanore N.S.
Eddie is is an Irish author, storyteller, lecturer and broadcaster.
He is one of the few practising seanchaithe (traditional Irish lore-keepers and tale-spinners) remaining in Ireland.
Eddie worked with both the junior and senior children telling them stories ranging from weasels to fairies to ghosts etc.
This was a great experience for all children and an experience they thoroughly enjoyed!
Today, children from 2nd class upwards participated in the annual cross country running in Kilnaboy.
Well done to all children who ran and completed their race!
And congraulations to all who received a team prize.
Today we visited Caherconnell Fort. Caherconnell Fort is a medieval, exceptionally well-preserved stone ringfort located in the Burren.
Firstly we watched a movie based on Caherconnell and life long ago in the fort.
Thereafter we went to see the fort and its ruins.
We saw graves, ruins of houses, a fire pit, animal shelters etc.
This was a great experience for the children to see first hand what a fort is and how it looked.
Today we went out blackberry picking as part of Science class.
We picked as many blackberries as we could! Thereafter, the children in the senior room made a delicious blackberry and apple crumble!
